The Stag and Pheasant is on Main Street. It is a Grade II Listed Building. The date of its construction is unknown but inside the huge oak beams forming the "cruck" frame can be seen. Cruck was one of the earliest forms of construction and the bay between each cruck was of a sufficient size to hold two oxen. The building has been changed and adapted over the centuries and in the 1700's was encased in the thin bricks typical of the period.
Nowadays it is a welcoming pub run by Matt and Michelle who serve a range of draught beers, including regular Guest Beers.
The St Thomas Cross lies half a mile outside the village at the junction of Newton Lane and Newton Manor Lane. The cross that gives the pub its name was dedicated to St Thomas and was a medieval "prayer stop" for monks travelling to Coombe Abbey. There has been an inn on the site since those days. The present building replaces one that was burned down in 1892. It is now a busy pub showing Sky Sports and serving a range of beers and food.
